Opening someone else's mail without consent is a criminal offence in Portugal. Every account starts with a signed reception mandate and an identity check, so your mail is opened legally, by you, through us.
Mail content is processed only to provide the service, under GDPR. It is never used for advertising or profiling, scans are stored encrypted and deleted 90 days after you cancel, and access is limited to the staff who handle your mail. The legal basis is a mandate under articles 1157 ff. of the Civil Code, which is what article 194 of the Penal Code requires.
A virtual mailbox (also called a virtual address or digital mailbox) gives you a real street address in Portugal without you living there. Mail sent to that address is received on your behalf, opened under your signed mandate, scanned, and delivered to you by email, wherever you are. You keep a Portuguese presence for banks, Finanças, Segurança Social, insurers and subscriptions, and read every letter the day it arrives instead of weeks later, or never.

Yes. Mail is opened only under the express written mandate you sign at signup, as Portuguese law requires, and we verify your identity before issuing an address. Without that mandate, opening someone else's mail is a crime, which is exactly why the mandate and ID check exist.
No. The address is for correspondence only. Registered office and tax domicile use carries different legal duties and is not part of this service.
We sign for them at the door as your agent under the mandate and scan them like any other letter. If the postman leaves a notice instead, we request a new home delivery from CTT; if that fails too, we email you the notice so you can reschedule or tell us what to do. We do not collect at CTT counters. Items that legally require you in person cannot be accepted by anyone else.

Yes, as a correspondence address, if your bank accepts one. Portuguese banks post the card and the PIN in separate envelopes, days apart, and rarely send either abroad. We receive them, sign for the registered ones under your mandate, scan them within 2 business days, and hold the card for 60 days so you can collect it on your next trip or have it forwarded for €10 plus CTT postage.
